If you've followed the path of Japanese gaming for a long time, you might recognize the titles mentioned in the subject line. It seems a listing has popped up at the Japanese retailer Game Star for two "Best Of" titles in Hudson's PC lineup -- Ginga Ojosama Densetsu Yuna (renamed Galaxy Fraulein Yuna in the anime episodes released in the US) and a Tengai Makyo collection. Select titles from both franchises are getting re-released on the PSP, which is exciting.

Arcades be doomed to oblivion -- the only true way to experience the maniacal and menacing fighter known as Guilty Gear is to play it on the go. Curse in public! Shout in victory on the bus/plane/train! Famitsu has leaked out information that a port of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus is coming to the PSP. For the uninitiated, this is the most complete and balanced version of the game to date, so you're guaranteed hours of awesomeness.

This is sort of a mixed bag. We're very excited to hear Interplay has teamed up with the creator of Earthworm Jim, Douglas TenNapel, to bring us a fourth game in the series. Especially after our PSP game was canceled by Atari. But, with the first two games getting pushed onto the Wii's virtual console and no platform announced for this game, we've a few reasons to think this won't get on the PSP.

Are you a fan of the professional golfing scene, but wish that Tiger Woods' head was a tad more hydrocephalitic? Feel disappointed when your long drives aren't punctuated with high-pitched squeals and rainbow trails? Whether you're a soon to be fan or a returning wedge-wielder, we're sure the news of a North American release date for the sequel to the PSP's premier anime-inspired golf simulator, Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee, will bring tears of joy to your dinner plate-sized, sparkle-filled eyes.

What makes Higurashi Daybreak so different from other fighting games? Well, 2-on-2 matches are a start, we guess. Take that concept, pull it off of the PC and slap it onto the PSP with 4-player ad-hoc communications, and you've got yourself a handheld party game. This game has been pretty popular in the past, so we're glad Alchemist, the publisher, is bringing it onto the PSP for everyone to enjoy.

Heads up people, new game alert. We always need one of these. It's called Super Hind, an action game where you pilot a Hind helicopter. The new IP developed by Mountain Sheep and published by Virgin PLAY is expected for a worldwide release this May.
While the game's title reminds us of SNES-era naming conventions (as does anything with "super" in the title), its appearance, however, definitely does not allude to that time.

A Famitsu scan reveals that the popular deformed-robot action game, Super Robot Taisen is coming to PSP. While it's found quite a following over in Japan, this series has a much more cult status here in the States. Previous releases were found on GBA and SNES -- glad to see that it's finally coming to Sony's handheld.

If you're in need of extra gigs for your PSP, but looking to save a pretty penny or two, perhaps you'll want to hear about this adapter. The PhotoFast CR-3500 microSDHC to Pro Duo adapter will allow microSDs and microSDHCs (high capacity) to work with both PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 models. The adapter supports microSDHCs up to eight gigs large.
Now how is this going to save you a few bucks? Well, for the exact same amount of storage capacity, microSDHCs offer a cheaper solution to Pro Duos -- even if you factor in the price of the adapter. But hang on right there. There's no price yet on the adapter. However, a little rummaging finds the adapter listed on Amazon Japan for ¥990. That's roughly US$9.70. If that estimate holds true for North American consumers, then there's a lot of savings to be had.

It seems "Game 3.0" might not necessarily be console-specific. According to CVG, a source has informed them that a PSP version of LittleBigPlanet is currently in the works for the PSP. Development duties fall to Sony Studio Liverpool, who have previously made Wipeout Pulse and Pure for the PSP, and are currently working on Wipeout HD for PlayStation 3.
That's about all we know as far as details, as that's all this unnamed source told CVG. LittleBigPlanet's side-scrolling, physics-based gameplay would seem to make it a good fit for the PSP (albeit with drawn-down graphical detail). But how much of the level-editing tools -- essential to the concept of the game -- would make it into a handheld version would seem to be up in the air, not to mention whether there would be any sort of connectivity features with the PS3 version (pictured).

According to game mag publisher Enterbrain (via Reuters), Sony sold 415,415 PSP units in Japan last month, almost double that of the 255,124 DS units shifted by Nintendo.
The news marks the first time in half a year that the Sony handheld managed an upset over the popular Nintendo portable, thanks to massive sales of Monster Hunter Freedom 2G by Capcom (it's big in Japan).
The Wii maintained hometown control in the console war, however, outselling the PlayStation by 3 to 1 last month. Nintendo sold 265,542 Wii units through March 30, compared to 81,579 PS3 units by Sony, and just 13,127 Xbox 360 units by Microsoft, Enterbrain said on Friday.

We had to laugh a little when we saw this webpage for the news: the release date listed for Gran Turismo 4 on PSP is still 03/24/2005. Yes, this game has been delayed and considered dead almost as much as Duke Nukem Forever, but we assure you it is alive and well. Kazunori Yamauchi also says this, though admits the game will not be ready until 2009. This latest delay comes courtesy of PS3 development hurdles in regard to Gran Turismo 5. It seems some kind of online functionality has been added to the PSP title, though, to connect it to the PS3. So it's evolving. We just have to wait.

On its online instruction manuals, Sony Computer Entertainment has a few images for use as labels. There's one for the original PSP-1000 series (click here), and another for the current PSP-2000 series (click here). However, curiously there's also a placeholder image for the logical next-step: the PSP-3000 series (click here).
The availability of the PSP-3000 image on the PlayStation site shouldn't come as a signal that a redesign is impending -- it's clear that Sony plans on revising the hardware through its supposed ten year life cycle. However, it does seem to display a bit too much forethought from the web designers that created and uploaded this image. How long will it take before we hear rumblings of yet another PSP redesign?

Playstation Nation is one of the most popular and widely listened-to Playstation podcasts on the internet, and we're pleased to bring news that PS Nation is joining up with Joystiq satellite sites PS3 Fanboy and PSP Fanboy to become the official PS Fanboy podcast.
New episodes of the podcast will premiere in April, and be released every Friday on both PSP Fanboy and PS3 Fanboy, as well as vgevo.com. Format-wise, PS Nation won't change much, but will benefit from the collaboration of the PS Fanboy team, with more exclusive interviews, previews and reviews. We'd like to say congrats to all those involved. We're looking forward to tuning in.

What can we say? Koei likes their Warriors formula. There's something different about Warriors Orochi though. Even though we've sifted through similar games, nay, almost identical games in the past, this title stands out. Perhaps it's the fact it's not lifted from the pages of history. Perhaps it's the sheer size of the character roster. Maybe we were just bored. Still, for Warriors fans, Warriors Orochi is the best of the franchise on the PSP, but everyone else will find the game repetitive and just like the others.

Monster Hunter mania is really turning into pimp-my-PSP. There's just way too many Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G items for sale: from cases to potions, and limited edition PSPs to art books and CDs. Now there's even this attachable grip that you can latch onto your handheld system. Only super hardcore fans would need something like this. The grip is only compatible with slim PSP-2000 models though, and goes for about 1,890 yen (US$20).
In light of all these collectibles and products, however, anyone else thinking that yet another one will slip out right before Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G's release? At this rate, it wouldn't be surprising. Keychains perhaps? No no, how about special edition edible gummy-monsters. That would surely fly off the shelves.
