A new MGS 4 trailer hints at the revival of scenes from the original Metal Gear Solid game in this summer's PS3 blockbuster.
The trailer starts off like with retrospective footage of the original PS1 game, as Snake sneaks into the front of the Shadow Moses facility, before moving onto clips from the 2003 GameCube remake, and the Shadow Moses level in the recent Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Wii.

Despite expectations to the contrary, the original NBA Ballers was actually a fairly decent arcade-style basketball game, provided you could get beyond all the ridiculous 'bling' and 'street cred' nonsense and just play ball...

If you know someone who recently experienced the loss of an Xbox 360, show some support by sending a Red Ring of Death condolence card. Created by Etsy user BSAngel, the card has the dreaded red ring design on the front, made from red crystals adhered by industrial strength glue. The card says inside: "May this card help console you during this difficult time. I am very sorry for your loss." Get it? Console and console -- it's a heteronym......

The New York Times explores how churches are using Halo to attract young congregants and the criticism it has caused. The article focuses on Protestant youth groups using the game to get young people through the door, then giving them the church spiel so that it'll be "hard for [the] teenagers to go to hell."
Critics say that allowing young people to play a game like Halo -- that they should not be able to buy on their own because it's rated M -- is actually a corroding influence. One...

Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime has said the North American holiday Wii supply will be substantially more than the quantities at the console's launch. In the video podcast Dean & Nooch on Gaming, hosted by San Jose Mercury News’ Dean Takahashi and Mike Antonucci, Nintendo of America president Fils-Aime addressed the Wii’s continuing short supply.
“The good news is we’re flowing more and more product into the marketplace, and the amount of Wii hardware that will be in North American stores will be unprecedented—substantially more than the launch and substantially more than has been seen to date,” Fils-Aime assured.
Unfortunately for consumers, this doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll be seeing stockpiles of Wiis on store shelves.
Fils-Aime conceded, “The bad news is that given the level of demand, and given the fact that the more we put in, the more we sell, it is still going to be difficult to get hands on the Wii.”....

Next-Gen spoke with an attorney with an expertise in the games industry who said if Silicon Knights wins the Unreal Engine 3 case against Epic Games, middleware providers should beware. The attorney, who is not involved in this particular case and wished to remain anonymous, warned, "It should make anyone that has middleware nervous if the licensee of that middleware can make out a claim for damages based on the quality of the middleware provided."
Unreal Engine 3 licensee Silicon Knights is doing just that. The Ontario-based developer of Eternal Darkness and the upcoming UE3-powered Too Human is suing UE3 developer and licensor Epic for delivering an allegedly inoperable game engine that didn't work as advertised. .....

Yes Nintendo, keep diverting those precious Wiis our way.....

The fact that "TGS" doesn't stand for "Terrific Gourmet Sandwich" is likely just as disappointing for you as it is for us. In our preparations for next week's Tokyo Game Show, we simply haven't found the time to waste on trivial matters such as eating, bathing or maintaining the fine balance between being witty and being obnoxious. We're already packing our bags, charging..

Amazon has a nice little deal going where you can get all you see above for $599. Found over at the CAG, the bundle includes the Xbox Elite, HD DVD drive (which comes with King Kong), the movie 300, and a mail-in form for five HD DVDs for free. The main thing to focus on here (because the free movies were announced a while back) is that you save about $60 on the hardware......

When playing an MMORPG, you're essentially waging a war against the mind-numbing effects of repetition. There's no way to avoid it in a genre that's less concerned with immediate interaction than it is with protracted character building and management. The crucial trick in creating a good MMORPG then, is to bury this almost mechanical repetition in enough layers of entertainment and atmosphere to convince you that you're plundering loot from a defeated swamp creature, and not a polygonal mass of lesser statistics. World of Warcraft is demonstrably such....

Though Microsoft hasn't confirmed the identity of this Wednesday's Xbox Live Arcade title, that hasn't stopped EA from telling Xbox 360 Fanboy that Wing Commander Arena – their arcadey space shooter that borrows the classic IP – will be available on the 25th for 800 points ($10). Longing for Mark Hamill-infused FMV cutscenes? You won't find any of that here, you'll need to tap GameTap for that sort of thing. If you're still not.....
