According to a talk Kellee Santiago from That Game Company gave at the GDC, flOw was almost a Wii title. This sent waves through the gaming community, and everyone sounded off on the loss that Nintendo suffereed. Spore designer Chris Hecker probably didn't realize that a firestorm of
controversy would erupt over his comments yesterday regarding the
Nintendo Wii. During a developer rant session at Game Developers
Conference on Wednesday, Hecker said that the "Wii is a piece of s***,"
slamming the system for its lack of power and Nintendo for only making
fun games and not artistic ones. A day later, and after much outcry on
the Internet, Hecker offered up a lengthy apology just prior to a

‘Gears of War,’ ‘Okami’ and ‘Wii Sports’ in Lead at the 7th Annual GDC Awards
Epic Games and Microsoft Game Studios’ Xbox 360 shooter Gears of War
was the recipient of three honors including Best Game at the 7th annual
Game Developers Choice Awards. The blockbuster hit game also received
the awards for Technology and Visual Arts. Following close behind with
two awards each were Clover Studios and Capcom Entertainment’s Okami
and Nintendo’s Wii Sports. The ceremony, produced and hosted by the
Game Developers Conference (GDC) and presented by the International
Game Developers Association (IGDA), is the only peer-based, open
nomination awards program in the industry where honors are bestowed to

Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios revealed a glimpse of the
first creative gaming experience for the PS3, LittleBigPlanet, at the
GDC yesterday. Developed by Media Molecule, LittleBigPlanet is a PS3
community-based game which is aimed at creating a new gaming world.
It’s more than just gaming
Players will meet on a blue and green planet which is scattered with
individual plots. They will use their character’s abilities to play,
create and share what they build with gamers around the world through

At the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco today, Sony Computer
Entertainment (SCE) unveiled two unique PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) titles:
“Home,” a real-time, networked 3D avatar-based community that serves as
a meeting place for PS3 users from around the world, and
“LittleBigPlanet™”, a community-based game where users play, create and

According to IGN, during a session at the GDC this morning, time was
allowed for developers to express their opinions and go on a little bit
of a rant. One of the speakers, Chris Hecker (who is currently working
on Spore at Maxis) decided to express his unfavourable opinions on the
Wii.
Hecker began his rant by stating that the "The Wii is a piece of
sh*t!", his talk was called "Fear of a Wii Planet". Hecker continued by
stating the Wii is nothing more than two GameCubes stuck together with
duct tape and the console just isn't powerful enough to provide the

New games and services for the PlayStation 3 will be making their
global debut in the keynote address by Sony's worldwide studios boss
Phil Harrison at the Game Developers Conference, Sony has confirmed.
In a statement issued today, the firm revealed that Harrison's speech,
titled "Game 3.0: Developing and Creating for the 3rd Age of
Videogames", will include "live demonstrations of previously
un-announced services and games for the PS3".
While the unveiling of new game software for the console will obviously
be welcomed, the key phrase in that statement may well be "services" -
since speculation has been rife in the past week that the company will
unveil a major new expansion of its online services in the keynote...more click on heading
