Wal-Mart Starts Checking IDs Fame it!

Because of its ESRB-sanctioned 'M' for Mature rating, Wal-Mart developed a new policy when Grand Theft Auto III hit store shelves. The family friendly company required cashiers to check IDs whenever someone wanted to buy a copy, prohibiting anyone under the age 17 from walking away with Rockstar's PS2 release. The policy still holds strong today. In fact, other stores, such as GameStop, Target and Best Buy, soon after instated their own ID-checking policy.
