E4A: Firaxis Brings Focus Testing to Gamers

In a rare move, 2K Games is using E for All as an opportunity to focus test an upcoming title.Publisher 2K Games has a very small presence at today's inaugural E for All Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center. But the company is showing the sharp-looking Sid Meier's Civilization: Revolution, a next generation console iteration of the venerable strategy franchise.
At the booth, showgoers are able to play the Firaxis-developed game for the first time in a public venue. At the gaming stations, 2K reps observe players' reactions and when the demo is over, ask gamers to take a survey about the game's accessibility, whether or not certain aspects were fun and the like.
Focus testing at a consumer event happens rarely, if at all, and 2K's strategy shows that developers can still get some important business done despite the consumer-centric nature of such shows......
